Tough Start To 2019 For Ryan Wells In Daytona TT

On a very tricky and technical track inside Daytona International Speedway, Estenson Racing’s Ryan Wells finished just outside the top 10 in AFT Singles for the third running of the DAYTONA TT.

Wells got off to a decent start, qualifying fifth on his Yamaha YZ450F. Unfortunately, a bad start in his Heat cost him and the New Yorker had to fight his way through the pack to finish sixth. That put him at a disadvantage for the rest of the evening as the stacked AFT Singles class and technical TT track was very unforgiving of errors.

In the Main Event, Wells got shuffled back on the start but made a valiant effort to work his way from last to cross the line just outside the top 10 in 11th.

Ryan Wells – AFT Singles #94:

“The bike was really good, awesome all day actually. I really hurt myself in the heat race, I got a miserable start and had to come from the back in that one. Once you’re playing catch-up with these guys… they’re all so fast, we were all pretty close, so you can’t expect to be much faster than everybody else out there and make passes each race. I think my speed was there all day, but like I said, my first start really kind of screwed me for the rest of the day.”
