Ryan Wells and Dallas Daniels Ready for the Sturgis

Estenson Racing’s Ryan Wells and Dallas Daniels look to take home top results in American Flat Track’s AFT Singles Championship during this year’s Sturgis Rally doubleheader, the Buffalo Chip TT, Sunday, August 4, and the Black Hills Half-Mile, Tuesday, August 6.

TT tracks are normally not Wells’ cup of tea, and the past few seasons on the purpose-built track inside the famous Buffalo Chip Campgrounds haven’t been easy for him. In 2019, the former AFT Singles champ has spent more time training for that first TT win, and he’s hoping to find pay-dirt this Sunday.

As for the Black Hills Half-Mile, expectations are high for Wells and the team. The New Yorker loves the fast-clay Half-Miles. He was able to clinch a win earlier this season at the So-Cal Half-Mile aboard the Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F, and he looks forward to returning to Black Hills Speedway where he has had success in the past – a win in 2016 and a runner-up position in 2018. His rookie teammate is also eager to race this weekend in South Dakota. After a month break since his professional American Flat Track debut in Lima, Ohio, the young Daniels is looking forward to showing his skills on the TT track. Like JD Beach, Daniels pulls double duty in both flat track and road racing, which he feels will give him an edge at “the Chip.” The 16-year-old, like Wells, also likes those big, fast-clay Half-Miles, so he’s looking to shine there, as well.

Ryan Wells – AFT Singles #94:

“In the past, I haven’t got the greatest results at the Buffalo Chip, but I’m feeling better than I have in a while on the TTs and with the bikes that I’m racing. I’m looking to have a better day and start off qualifying better than ever and try to progress throughout the day to get on the podium again. The main goal is to get my first TT win of my career. I definitely think it’s possible, and I think we are bringing the right tools to get the job done.

“I’m really excited for the Black Hills Half-Mile. It’s usually one of my favorite races of the year. We’ve got amazing bikes. Being that our only win of the season was on a big-clay Half-Mile, I definitely think that the expectations are pretty high to get on the podium and hopefully get a win.”

Dallas Daniels – AFT Singles #163:

“I’ve been waiting for this day my entire life, basically. It’s what I’ve worked so hard for and prepared for. Obviously, I’m very excited and ready to get going. I’m not really nervous or anything. I know I’ve got good equipment and a great team behind me with Estenson Racing. I think we can go in and do well.”
