Kolby Carlile Bounces Back From Struggles In Sturgis To Score Points At Buffalo Chip TT

Although Kolby Carlile was looking forward to American Flat Track’s 12th round of the season, he spent the day searching for the right setup and was left behind in a very stacked AFT Singles class at the Buffalo Chip TT. He and his Estenson Racing crew continued to push forward and worked together to overcome a very disappointing qualifying session to score valuable points in the championship.

Carlile finished sixth in his Heat before the rain delay. Once on-track action resumed, riders were met with a very different track. Carlile and crew had the bike ready for the new conditions and he was able to score a third-place finish in the Semi to earn a front row start in the Main. Unfortunately, though, more bad luck struck during the hurry-up schedule, interfering with Carlile’s performance. In the end, he was able to salvage a very difficult day with a sixth-place finish and make up some ground in the point standings, moving back up to third.

Kolby Carlile – AFT Singles #1:

“I started off not feeling the best. I qualified 19th, which wasn’t very good and I wasn’t happy. The team dug deep and we changed a lot and found a setup going into the Semi that I really liked. After the rain [before the Semi] the track was completely different. I was able to avoid the carnage and ride really hard and got a third place in that, which gave me a front row start in the Main.

““I was pretty frazzled during the first five or six laps of the Main Event. By the time I stopped making mistakes and calmed down I had already wasted a whole bunch of energy, which I should not have done, but it happens. With the rain delay it was kind of crazy, but I think the team came together. For us to be able to finish sixth place after qualifying 19th and beating some people in the championship that we had to beat, I’m happy.”
