Kolby Carlile Adds To His Points Tally At OKC

Estenson Racing’s Kolby Carlile was hoping to leave the OKC Mile with another win, but he ultimately took home valuable points with a solid fourth-place finish as the American Flat Track championship approaches the halfway mark.

Although not a hundred percent comfortable from the start on a track with rough conditions, Carlile was feeling good on his Yamaha YZ450F and felt like he had what it took to run up front and take his third win of the season. He won his Heat, finished second in his Semi, but unfortunately made a mistake on the start and was unable to get in the mix with the lead pack. The defending AFT Singles champ then looked at the big picture and made sure to secure that fourth-place finish to maintain his third-place position in the championship.

“I felt good all day, like I could have won the race. I felt that I had the speed of those front three guys [Dan Bromley, Ryan Wells and Shayna Texter]. I just made a little mistake on the start in the Main Event, and I fell behind. Then I got to battling with some riders and we kept falling back and back and back; I knew that was how it was going to go. So I just salvaged a fourth place.”
