Jake Johnson Looking For A Win At Home

They call him “Jersey Jake,” but for quite some time now, Jake Johnson has called Pennsylvania home. So Johnson would love nothing more than to take his second win of the season for Estenson Racing in front of the home crowd at the Williams Grove Half-Mile.

Not only is Johnson looking forward to racing at home, he’s also a big fan of clay Half-Mile tracks. He had a good showing last season, finishing fourth in spite of a tough development year. Johnson is looking for better in 2018 on the Estenson Racing Indian Scout FTR750 and aims to keep building on his late-season momentum with three rounds remaining in the American Flat Track AFT Twins Championship.

“Springfield went pretty well. I felt really good on the bike. So I think things are starting to click. There are still a few things we are learning and trying to get better with the bike. But the biggest thing is feeling comfortable. Once I get comfortable, things can start happening pretty quick. It’s getting a little late in the year, but it’s nice to have a little bit of confidence back and that ‘feel’ back.

“It’s definitely nice to race close to home. Will be nice to leave in the morning for the race and be in my own bed after, too. I’m going to have a lot of friends and family there, which will be nice but there’s a little bit of pressure. Plus, it’s getting down towards the end of the year, so everybody wants to finish the year strong, everybody’s going to be going for it. But I did well there last year, finished fourth and was fighting for a podium. So that’s encouraging. It’s going to be a night race this year instead of the day, so hopefully the track is a little bit better, and racier. We’ll see what we can do.”
