Kolby Carlile’s American Flat Track AFT Singles title defense has not gone as planned in 2018. Some bad luck and a host of mechanicals had the Estenson Racing team looking to start fresh after the previous round in Peoria.
With the short break and some testing time in, Carlile heads to Springfield with regained confidence. The “Flying Tomato” has felt quite at home at Springfield and is looking to return his Yamaha YZ450F to the podium at the Springfield ST.
In addition to finishing the final four races of the season on a high note in AFT Singles, Carlile will once again be racing the Springfield Mile in the AFT Twins class. He had a good first outing at Springfield Mile I, but unfortunately a mechanical in his Heat had him out of the Main. This time around, Carlile expects better and is laser-focused on making the Main to earn his National Number in the Twins class for 2019.
Kolby Carlile – AFT Singles #1:
“After our DNF in Peoria, we decided that we needed to try some new things moving forward. After doing some testing this week, I am more confident in the bike again, and back to feeling at my winning pace. I am looking forward to this weekend, not only to try to gain some points on the Single, but to try and secure my National Twins Number for next year. That is a big goal for me this weekend. My main goal for the rest of the year is to just have fun racing and let the results happen.”
